Travelin'Oma assignment.
I love clothes. I have a lot that have accumulated over the years; but find myself wearing the same few outfits over and over again. There is a woman at church that always looks amazing, and classy. I often wonder if she would be willing to be my personal shopper – buy all her same clothes, but in my size, for me. Several weeks ago I saw a woman on Wheel of Fortune who was wearing a shirt just like one of mine. (I posted it here.) I kept thinking she was wearing such a great shirt – and finally realized I already had that shirt!
How many times do we do that with our personality style? We watch certain people, and desire to be like them. I frequently say, “I want to grow up to be just like... (insert name of fabulous person here)”. There are a lot of people I’d like to emulate. Unfortunately, we can’t just go to a store and buy characteristics, but we can nurture and develop qualities and attributes that we desire to have. The trick is to pick a positive style that still fits with our own nature and true personality – “to your own self be true.” I think that’s the best way to be the best we can be. Then one day we might spend time with someone we think is fabulous, and realize Wow! I have that trait also!
I love clothes, too, but I wear the same things over and over. Sometimes I think I should just become the person who dresses the mannequins. I'd get to create cute outfits, put them on a skinny body, admire them, and get paid.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I was just telling Audrey on her blog that I love reading these Travelin'Oma posts - you are such a great writer, and I've loved reading through all the different assignments - it's fun to read about different topics than the ones that usually come up on blogs. What a great way to journal!
