Delightful, wonderful book! I loved it from the very beginning. At the end I tried to slow down my reading because I wanted it to last longer, but was also in a hurry to keep reading it - the perfect combination of feelings when coming to the end of a book. The story takes place right after World War II in England and on the Island of Guernsey (of the Channel Islands). It is comprised solely of correspondence, which is one of my favorite styles of writing if done well - and this one was.
Today I didn't even want to start a new book yet. I'm still savoring this one. In fact last night when I finished it, I turned back to the beginning to reread a couple of parts.
I have heard so many good things about this book. Everyone recommends it. Thanks for the endorsement.
ReplyDeleteYou're incredible. Weren't you only part way through the book when I talked to you on Friday?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read it. Too many holds at the library.....I may have to break down and buy it.
I buy fewer books these days, but this one is worth owning.
