China

We leave for Hong Kong and China tomorrow. Hong Kong for 3 days, then on to Guilin, Xi'an, and Beijing - and home in just under two weeks.

Ray's parents made it possible. They are finishing an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) in Hong Kong. And now they've invited their children (with spouses) to join them in Hong Kong, then on to China to share their love for that part of the world. Not everyone is able to come, but Ray and I and three of Ray's siblings with their spouses are coming. We will be a cozy group of ten, in our very own, personalized tour.

I took Travelin' Oma's travel advice to heart. She gives some great packing tips in these posts: Philosophy of travel and Packing it in. Audrey came and helped me and Ray choose our wardrobes for the trip, and we think we can each fit our stuff in a carry-on. We haven't actually finished the packing so we're not sure, but we are ever hopeful.

One slight glitch came up this week. My dad had what we thought was a stroke on Monday. They've actually labeled it a TIA. I spent a few days at the hospital, and now he is home, and as good as ever - maybe better. What a blessing. I feel like I can leave with a light heart in that area.

Final packing tonight, and we're off tomorrow afternoon.

I'm excited!

  6. Hi,

What a great trip!! I hope you don't mind if I "tag along". My oldest son served a mission in Taiwan so I love to see pictures from that part of the world.
