Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

I have never read this book before. We're going to see the play version of it on Monday, so I thought I'd read the book and get the story line.

I liked the book quite a bit. I was afraid it would be wordy - it was written in the late 1800's, and the literary style then was often so. It wasn't too wordy at all. Stevenson gets right into the story, and it just keeps moving along. It was nice to finally know who Jim Hawkins and John Silver are. I'm not sure where "long John Silver" came from. I don't recall that phrase being used in the story.

I went through a phase of reading pirate stories when I was young. I'm surprised I never found or was directed to this one. It's worth reading.
